high ticket niches

The niche you choose is one of the biggest factors in the overall success of your dropshipping store. You can be a dropship master and still struggle to make a decent income if you choose the wrong niche.

In this article, not only will I give you the ultimate list of high ticket dropshipping niche ideas, I will also walk you through how you can validate the potential profitability of a niche.

Take your time when deciding, never assume a niche is going to be profitable without taking the time to research it. It’s very easy to have tunnel vision and choose the niche you want to go with instead of the niche you should go with.

What is High Ticket Dropshipping?

Everyone seems to have a different opinion as to what constitutes high ticket dropshipping. I’ve heard people say anything over $50 is high ticket and others say anything over $1,000 is. I’ll give you a generalization if you’re unsure.

High ticket dropshipping is the same as normal dropshipping but with a higher price point. Typically, any product over $100 is categorized as high ticket, although many high ticket dropshippers sell products over $1,000. This is different from the low-priced impulse buy dropshipping which is often taught.

Personally, I think the ideal price point is between $200 and $1,000. Sales over $200 make some really good profit margins, however, anything over $1,000 can make people apprehensive about spending that much money online. If you want to go down this route, I have an article on high ticket items valued over $1,000 each.

This does not mean you should only dropship products in this range, it’s ideal but far from essential. The goal is to make as much money as possible, whether you’re selling $20 or $20,000 products, it doesn’t matter. For some ideas, I have an article with over 400 high ticket profitable products to sell.

Which are the Best Suppliers for High Ticket Dropshipping?

It can be a big gamble using AliExpress for high ticket dropshipping and I wouldn’t recommend it. The product quality isn’t great, the suppliers aren’t reliable and the shipping times are long. If customers are making a large purchase online, they’re not willing to wait for the product to be shipped from China. Check out a full comparison between high and low ticket dropshipping.

If you want to dropship from China, your best option is to order in bulk from Alibaba and have them ship the bulk order to a fulfillment center in the country you’re dropshipping too. This will mean your customers will have fast shipping times, the product quality is usually higher and your profit margins will be better.

The best suppliers for high ticket dropshipping are often found domestically in the country you’re dropshipping too. Using Google to find domestic suppliers in your niche is your best chance. Otherwise, using a dropship directory such as Salehoo or Spocket to find high ticket suppliers is a good choice.

With domestic suppliers, it’s much easier to build a relationship and actually communicate without having a cultural or language barrier making it difficult. You’re also able to source high quality and often brand name products.

Which Niches are Best for High Ticket Dropshipping?

There’s no exact answer as to which niches are the best for dropshipping. The goal is to find niches that have the best chance of success. You do this by going after the niches that have the best combination of demand and relatively low competition.

Now to be clear, every single niche has competition, so don’t Google a niche and see there are multiple websites selling within that niche and assume it’s too competitive. If your niche has a decent amount of demand, you may need 0.1% of the traffic to come to your website for you to make a very profitable high ticket dropshipping business.

Is there Demand for your Niche?

The first step is to make sure you’re selling a niche that enough people actually want to buy. Using a keyword tool is a helpful way to find the monthly search volume within your niche.

Take the results of the monthly search results with a grain of salt. Don’t assume the number of monthly searches are the most exact answer for demand. Yes, it will give you an answer to how many people are Googling your niche, however, there are other factors to consider that can make a niche profitable or unprofitable.

  • Are people Googling the product for reasons other than purchasing the product?
  • Is there other search terms people within your niche are searching for instead?
  • Is your product commonly sold in many brick and mortar stores?
  • Is there brand loyalty within your niche making your products less likely to sell?
  • Is your niche popular in some countries and not others?
  • Is your niche dropship friendly?
  • Is your niche seasonal and do the results vary throughout the year?
  • How competitive is your niche?

Let’s say for example, you do a search for a kid’s backyard playhouse and it has 200,000 searches a month. This sounds enticing due to the high search volume, however, there are a few points to consider.

  • A playhouse can be called various things, cubby house, outdoor wooden house, clubhouse and more.
  • Many people may Google this because they want to build one instead of buying one.
  • Many people may want to see a product like this in person and purchase it from a standard retail store instead of an online store.
  • Depending on the country you’re dropshipping to, it may not be logistically feasible to dropship a large or heavy product and still be profitable.

These factors do not mean backyard playhouses can’t be profitable, it just means you should factor all this into the demand for your niche.

The Google Keyword Planner Tool was the go-to keyword tool as it was free. They have since changed the requirements so you need to be signed up and using Google ads to access it for free. Uber Suggest is another option although it will only allow you to use 3 free searches a day.

Keysearch.co is the one I use and will only cost $17 a month. It has many of the same features as websites costing $80 a month. It may be worth paying for a single month, getting all the searches within the niches you’re looking into, then canceling it.

Another recommended option is to use Google Trends to analyze the demand and current trend of your niche. Your best option is to filter your niche by the last 5 years and change the location to the country or countries you’re dropshipping too.

Most niches will have ups and downs throughout the year so if you filter it in the last 12 months you don’t get an accurate view of the current trend of your niche.

Your other option is to go to Amazon, eBay and AliExpress to see how many sales the products are making within your niche. Check out the reviews and see what people are saying, this will not only give you demand, it will tell you your target market’s needs.

Is your High Ticket Niche too Competitive?

You can look at the competition in multiple ways. You can think of it as too saturated and difficult to make profitable or you can think of it as there is clearly money to be made if many others are already selling within the niche.

If I was to find an obscure niche with little competition, I’d be thinking I’ve either found a gold mine very few have discovered or more likely, it’s just not that profitable.

Don’t be scared of competition as it means the niche has already been validated as already profitable, but too much competition can make it challenging. There are a few steps you can follow to check if a product is too saturated.

  1. Many high ticket dropshippers use Google ads as their primary method of advertising. This means you can go to Google shopping to check how many suppliers are running ads for products in your niche. Write down how many suppliers you’re up against and compare this to other niches you’ve checked to find out which niches are more competitive than others.
  2. Check how many ads are running on Facebook for the products within your niche. You can type into the Facebook search bar the product you want to check, then click the videos tab and you will get a list of all the video ads running for your product. You can also use Facebook ads library to check all the ads running within various niches.
  3. If you’re using AliExpress, you can check how many orders are being made for each product. You ideally want at least 1,000 orders as this shows demand for the product, however, a very high number of sales can mean the product is saturated. This will obviously depend on how long the product has been on the market for. Check AliExpress Dropship Center for how many regular orders have been made compared to dropship orders. A low ratio of dropship orders compared to regular orders means there may be room for more dropshippers to make some sales with the product.

There are so many ways you can stand out and differentiate yourself and still have success. Branding your store is the best way to set yourself apart from your competition.

Final Advice

Don’t let a list like this overwhelm you, most of the niches won’t suit you but may suit others. It will vary depending on your goals, your interests, your demographics and how broad of a niche you want to focus on.

For this reason, I’ve included some very narrow niches, some broad niches and niches that are suitable for various countries.

Go through the list and write down the top 10 you can see yourself selling. Then write down how many monthly searches each has, how many ads are being run, how much you know about the niche, how many suppliers you can source and rate your competitors on a scale of 1 – 10.

Analyzing this data for your final list will give you a good idea as to which will be the best avenue to pursue. If it doesn’t work out to be the right niche, don’t worry, you can always explore another route. The best part of dropshipping is it doesn’t cost much to fail. If you do fail, fail fast, so you can try again faster.

Even if you have a lot of competition, there are several ways you can differentiate yourself from your competitors:

  • Source high-ticket suppliers, brands or variants they may not have on their store.
  • Change the angle at which you market the product.
  • Create a brand.
  • Use a different advertising method instead of Facebook and Google ads, this way you’ll show your products to an audience who may not have seen them before.
  • Provide a more compelling offer.
  • Target countries other than the US who have not been exposed to your products yet.

You can make most niches profitable if you think outside the box!
